[ADW] Re: Getting a sound file to play on viewing

Hi Kathie,

Adding automatic audio to a website was listed as one of the "pet
peeves" people dislike in a recent article I read. If you can
convince your client that the website viewer has the option to listen
(by activating a player) then you give the reader a choice. The video
or sound file can be as prominent as your client likes (on the side,
in the middle etc).

If you need to set up a flash video or sound now, you might want to
get a converter to help you until you feel comfortable with Flash.
Vertical Moon has some nice converters with player controls:

You can also specify when converting a windows media or quicktime
video (or sound files) to either play on onload or set to be clicked
first. I have a client who insists on onload but they are a jazz
artist, music may be the one industry people should anticipate the
website will have sound associated with it.

If you run into problems, happy to offer help off list.

Have a nice Easter (if you celebrate, if not, a good weekend),
Nancy
